Bud -

For the user ID and/or workstation ID field, why not use the program name
(or something that identifies it). IFM, when it sends AP invoice payment
info to the MO for outside operations, puts all * in the workstation ID
field - I don't know if non-IFM AP does that or not. By using your program
name, it is totally unambiguous where the data came from.

Just a thought - Joan

Thanks for your input. I just found it! The next batch number for MO's
is stored in SYSCTL, record key "ORDATA" (field MBTCH in CAS Sysctl Maint).
I like your idea of using *** for the user ID, I was wondering how I was
going to handle that. I will incorporate your idea into my program,
thanks.

Bud,

Look in the AMTLIB files for I believe a file called INTRNC (or something
like
this) which is the batch control file. You will need to increment the
number and put a default in the user id field - we used three ***. That way
we always knew which batch was created by our custom program. Double check
the file name as I don't have access to an AS/400 right now and I'm a little
fuzzy on this file as it has been a few years since we used it.

Good luck and hope this has helped.
