Thanks for your input.   I just found it!   The next batch number for MO's
is stored in SYSCTL, record key "ORDATA" (field MBTCH in CAS Sysctl Maint).
I like your idea of using *** for the user ID, I was wondering how I was
going to handle that.   I will incorporate your idea into my program,
thanks.

Look in the AMTLIB files for I believe a file called INTRNC (or something
like
this) which is the batch control file.  You will need to increment the
number
and put a default in the user id field - we used three ***.  That way we
always
knew which batch was created by our custom program.  Double check the file
name
as I don't have access to an AS/400 right now and I'm a little fuzzy on this
file as it has been a few years since we used it.
