RE: Vanilla Mapics?

Not exactly your questions, but we are running plain Vanilla MAPICS, but
using eWP instead of Green Screen, and EPDM/Browser.

eWP is just a GUI screen-scrape, so there's nothing it can do that can't be
done on the green screen. We went with the GUI 4 years ago because we were
coming from a home-grown "green screen" system, and I wanted what the
end-users were looking at to be "different" from the old system to drive
home the point that this WAS a new system and wouldn't work the way the old
system did. However, at that time (four years ago), any training done,
either on-site or at MAPICS Bus Academy, was done on green screen because
the trainers "freaked" at the sight of the GUI screens!

We went with EPDM because MAPICS sold corporate on the "latest and
greatest." I can't compare, therefore, green screen IM (item master) and PDM
with PDM+ or EPDM.

There is ZERO custom code or major modifications! This means we've had to
get creative with "user fields," especially in the Item Master (Item
Revision in EPDM), and some of the data in those user fields doesn't show up
where we need it to in other applications (MO's, PO's, CO's are the
"biggies"). But, basically, plain vanilla MAPICS has worked for us, because
it was a corporate mandate (with my full-hearted support) to MAKE it work
without customization. If we HAD to, we could go green screen all the way
with few "screams" from end users.

Again, not exactly the situation you requested, but hope this helps. BTW, if
you're ever going to upgrade to or above Rel 6, you have GOT to go to the
GUI and Client Server stuff...

Is there anybody that is running Vanilla Mapics on the green screen with no
major modifications & custom code, no GUI interfaces?  I would like to hear
your experiences.  Is Mapics able to provide you with adequate info?  What
