Joan,

I think they do consult with users on some cases, at least I've gotten a
couple calls over the years. I got a LOT of calls on the offline shipping
enhancement, which was extremely useful for us. Of course, I was
effectively begging for that for quite some time. I think it depends on
how thorough the request for enhancement is done, and how broad-based the
change it. I also would like to see a "user panel" for enhancements,
possibly with a different group for each application or application group.
I'd be interested in participating also.

Bonnie -

Since outside processing is an operation on our MO, we have the inspection
step following the outside operation, but I see your point - you want to
inspect on PO receipt too. Don't know - we don't really do that, but
you're
right - this needs to be part of the MAPICS enhancement we all voted for.

Does anyone know if the MAPICS enhancement programming team has end-users
included on their design process? I'd volunteer, and I think that if they
don't have at least a dozen end-users involved, from a variety of
industries
and manufacturing types, no one is going to be really satisfied with the
enhancement...

We can't wait for Mapics to do the Outside Party Process (and hope it is
retrofitted back to release 6).

I have looked a the archives for outside operations and at the solution
provided on
the Mapics Web site.

I do not see how inspection is handled if we have defined the purchased
part as having no item balance.
How are you handling inspection on outside service? And vendor returns?

Thanks,
Bonnie Lokenvitz
