This does not directly address the issue of generating MO's OUT OF COM,
but I thought it would be worthwhile for some other folks on the list.
My organization has developed a product called Electronic KanBan, and
this was one of the hottest topics at the MAPICS User Conference this
year. Essentially what it does is when a kanban bin is emptied; a wand
of a barcode automatically generates the M.O., P.O., Repetitive
Schedule, warehouse or InterSite transfer for that particular part. When
the bin is replenished the system will automatically create the
appropriate transaction (RP, RM, etc.) and change it from a status 10 to
a status 45 or 50. The system will automatically backflush labor where
appropriate. The system has been integrated into the Paperless Module
(PLM&C) or can be used with Production Monitoring and Control (PM&C).
The system is highly configurable and can be set to send email
notifications to internal staff or vendors notifying them of bin status.
This product is a way to dramatically simply the implementation of a
kanban or visual-based system on the shop floor. If you'd like
information please email or call me, or if you have a CD from the show,
you can see a little about the product in the session 113 PowerPoint.
Regards,
Frank
