Lloyd,

When this happens, there's a low-level task running that isn't assigned to
any active job.  In order to see what it is, you really need to use the
WRKSYSACT command that's included with Performance Tools (57xxPT1), or
something equivalent.  It could be related to ODBC, or it could be something
else entirely - it's all speculation until you know what task(s) are running
when it happens.

What are the effects of ODBC Calls on an AS/400?  I am trying to research
just
why our AS/400 seems to slow down so badly (%CPU 100% in WRKSYSSTS) when, in
WRKACTJOB, there appears to be only minuscule jobs running that add up to

that 10%????

Due to a Rogue Programmer that no longer works here, we have, at any given
time,
upwards of ten users, accessing MAPICS table data from various applications
that
are using Windows ODBC.


Any ideas????
