Stephen,

We have an entire library dedicated to just this task. I'm ashamed,
however, of how we do it. We do the research with a package like Hawkeye.
Then we write a program for each file and a CL to call each program. It's
been that way for 10 years.

Now, I'm thinking that if you did the research up front and created a DB
file containing the file, library, fieldname to be changed and looped through
that file and dynamically created and executed an SQL statement based on
the data in the file. That would make it a little more dynamic.

Good Luck,

Mark

I am looking to see if anyone has developed a way of changing one item
number to another item number throughout the entire
Mapics database.

If anyone has a list of all the fields and files that need to be changed
would be a good starting point.

I have a cross referencing utility (Hawkeye) that I can use to help me but
would sooner use a proven method if available.
