We capture MTHACTV....but beware....MTHACTV only gets a record written when
there is a quantity change. If price change only, then no record is written.
We use a user exit to verify if price change only. At end of month we put it to
a history file.

We are also looking at MMA.

Good observation Lloyd, YES MAPICS left a gaping hole regarding daily
booking activity. Most likely so they could sell you additional software.

The practice of knowing your order/booking activity should be native to
COM. An important concept for software borne of accounting criteria?!?!
...........My opinion, simple yet revolutionary!?!?!?!?

MTHACTV is a dangerous file. Why? Because it doesn't track all changes.
Say you revise the price on an item, go see what changed in MTHACTV.
NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you close month end, copy your MTHACTV file to an 'EOMLIB'
that way you have detail before COM close purges. When we copy,
we append the month to file name. Say we're closing month 7, we'll
create MTHACTV07 in EOMLIB.

We also have a scheduled program (WRKJOBSCDE) that compares
yesterdays order files with todays. After the analysis we copy todays
order files to the temp location for tomorrow's analysis.
The program that performs the analysis was complex, as we continually
adjust orders: Make a single release a blanket, stagger or pull-in
schedules,
adjust quantities/prices....etc. Very 'dynamic'. (customers...gotta luv
'em)

Look at all of your needs closely before purchasing MMA, if that's your
path,
I refused to buy it out of principle, but that's because I'm hard headed!

good luck in your quest.......

We are new to MAPICS, (only since April 2, 2001), and I am attempting to
figure
out how to keep history of bookings data.

I have discovered that The MAPICS daily recap Figure for Bookings
calculates the
Bookings dollars for a given time period minus the shipments against the
bookings for that particular period, causing, in my humble opinion, false
numbers! (for example, day 1 I sell 100 widgets for five dollars each, My
bookings, when I run said report for day one are 500 dollars Day two I
sell
nothing, but ship 250 of said widgets, run report for day one, and reported
bookings are down to 250 dollars!

I'm not looking for OPEN BOOKINGS, rather the number of dollars that I did
for
the particular time period! Am I asking for something extraordinary? I
have
NEVER worked with a system that could not, off the shelf, do this!

I am currently using IWP against MTHACTV to give me this info, but it
appears
that this info goes away after each month close. Will MMA solve this
problem?
I KNOW others out there have had this same problem, just what have you
done?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions,
