RE: Processing current year prior to year end close

• Copy your general ledger files (TEMGEN, CURHIS, GELMAS, etc.) to a separate environment and then enter your AJE's in that environment.
• Initialize the new yeare in the operating environment.
•  When the previous year is final, have someone DFU the opening balances in the operating environment so they reflect the ending balances in the prior year environment.

Subject: Processing current year prior to year end close

I don't know if we are unique or not.  But we just the

other day were able to close out year end 2000.  We

hold open our year end till the auditors give us final

AJE's for the year.  This presents a problem with

running trial balance and other reports in the current

year because Mapics still thinks the previous year is

open.  If I run a report dated jan 31 2001, the trial

balance thinks that I want this report for jan 31,

2000 since the prior year is still open.  

 

If there are anyother finance people that monitor this

listing, please respond to your experience and how you

get around this.  Is there another Mapics module that

I need to purchase?
