Mapics Environment: DB or Y2K (MOD 4)
IM, PC&C and PDM

Hi Mapics ML:

I did a PDM full (Current and Standard) Product Costing at the close of
business last Friday and when I reviewed some of the changes to the Item Master
File B-Record inqury screen (AMVC14), I noticed that the dates under "Last
Maint[ained]" were not changed for those Item Nos. that had changes made to
their costs as a result of this procedure.

I looked in the Mapics Support Website for some information on this and the
closest Statement I found was ID # 15.0.7111882.2431526, which in part said,

"This date is updated only by update to current or standard labor content this
level via Item Master File maintenance. Changes to labor content due to
changes in labor hours, labor table, cost rollup, etc. do not affect labor
content fields DATCL or DATSL in the ITEMASB file."

What is the logic for this? If the PDM Product Costing results in new data
reported in the AMVC14 screen, why isn't the date of this change reported under
"Last Maint[endance]?"

As I look at some of the dates under "Last Maint[endance]" on screen AMVC14,
they go back to October 1986. What is the point of having this field displated
on AMVC14 if the dates don't make any sense to a reader?

Do you just ignore these dates in your shop? Has this been corrected in Mapics
XA?

I look forward to reading your comments on this matter.

Regards....
