I had problems with IE 4.0 - when I would download a .640 (example:
SH12345.640), Internet Explorer would identify it as a ".640 file" and would
append another .640 to it (example: SH12345.640.640). I could save it to a
Windows directory (c:\temp, for example), but not to an AS/400 PC folder
(AFDWEB) because of the double extension.
This "error" has mercifully gone away in IE 5.0, so I can once again
download MAPICS ptf's directly to the 400 PC folder.

Some time ago I also experienced a problem with PTF .000 extension download.
I noticed that if I download with Microsoft Explorer I have an error when
using AFDWEBGET(CPF5175)when I download with Netscape I do not get that
error.
What is rather strange is the following experiment. Use WINDOWS explorer
select TOOLS ,OPTIONS , FILE TYPES , NEW TYPE , associated extension 000 ,
ok , gives an error 'the extension '.000' is already in use by file type
'000_auto_file'. What is also strange is that the extension .000 is also
taken by Geoworks http://pw2.netcom.com/~estraws/types.html
I submitted this to Mapics support.
the reply of mapics support

the 000 file extension may have been associated with a Open or View action
with Microsoft's Internet Explorer. The association occurs when customer's
attempt to open or view a MAPICS PTF via Internet Explorer. The easiest
method to resolve this problem is to un-install Internet Explorer. After
Internet Explorer has been successfully removed from the PC, you can
reinstall Internet Explorer without any problems.

To avoid this problem in the future, one should only save our PTF's to disk
when prompted by Internet Explorer. In other words, never select the Open
option in Internet Explorer when it comes to MAPICS PTF's.

The above only applies to our PTF's with numeric file extensions (eg: 000,
240, 640, 650, etc). You should not have any problems with EXE, TXT, and
DOC file types.

Are PTFs that end in '.000' informational PTFs?

I'm trying to apply SH13740.000. It appears to be a prerequisite at XA 5.5
for
installing AM Plus. I'm getting the error CPF4525 when using the AFDWEBGET
command against it. I checked the mapics website already and meet the
software
requirements for windows NT and client access. Is the problem that this is
actually a informational PTF?

Thanks
