I run MAPICS Unattended save to disk nightly and do not end QINTER. Mapics goes
into dedicated mode but users can continue to use the system for Non-MAPICS
applications.
Ending QINTER stops most users from even signing on. All our 'homegrown'
applications that
use MAPICS files checks to see if MAPICS is in dedicated mode before executing.

We are a 24x6 shop and much of what the users do today is not just MAPICS.

We also have a job on the AS400 jobscheduler that will execute a transaction
register to finish
IM batches.
