Hi Mailing List Group:

Just for the heck of it, I posted a question posed on another subject thread
called "Suspended Batches" (The question was: "Do suspended inventory batches
keep the backup from running? I have heard
>conflicting stories.") directly on the "new" Mapics Support website and came
>up with the following comment:

ID:413907 (Solution 1 of 2)

When tailored for immediate update of inventory management transactions (I002
Transactions in batch mode = N) all batches must be in a finished status before
you will be allowed to run a MAPICS backup. If tailored for batch update (I002
= Y) you can backup your files with non-finished batches. See CAS User's Guide
chapter referring to Back Up/Recover/Reorg for more information.

------End of Mapics Support Website Comments------

I did this because I want to bring up the following questions:

Now that Mapics has substantially improved their Support website, is it
appropriate to use information from their website in responding to queries made
on this Mapics Mailing List?

I can envision various replies on this topic:

1. No, it's an invasion of their copyrighted ownership.

2. No because their support is only available to licensed users of their
product who have an assigned users name and password.

Is it safe to assume that "all" Mapics members of this Mailing List are allowed
through their employers to have access to the Mapics Support website; as I have?

Now that the Mapics Support website appears to be much improved (but certainly
not perfect because if it were perfect, we probably wouldn't need the Mailing
List!), is it safe to assume that most Mailing List members will run their
questions thru the Mapics Support Website first before passing the questions on
to the Mailing List?

I've read postings on this Mailing List where reference was made directly to
the Mapics Manuals as they relate to the subject at hand. Using the Mapics
Support website in our comments on this Mailing List appears to me to be an
extension of their manuals in an electronic form.

I believe all these questions need to be discussed in our Mailing List forum
and I hope that my comments here bring out a lively discourse on this topic.

I look forward to your comments.

Regards........
