We are upgrading from R3 to R4. I just applied the update to a test
environment and was very impressed. The R3 to R4 upgrade ran 14 hours
without a glitch. The two PCM's applied without a glitch. We are now
testing the environment and making plans for updating our production
environment.

I was very impressed with the media enhancements. I received 1- 2.5gb 1/4"
cartridge for the upgrade and CD-ROMs for the PCMs. In the past I have
received 4 or 5 smaller data cartridges. It is much easier to apply from a
single tape or CD.

Unfortunately we do not use KBC so I cannot comment on that, however, COM
ran very well. The R4 environment took an additional 20% of DASD (3.6GB
before 4.32GB after) , while during parts of the upgrade the system was
above 90%.
