I don't have a terminology cheat sheet nor was that my major struggle. My
major struggle is the file system and what the different folders off of the
root are for. I have reviewed a number of explanations of what the
different folders are for, but none of them are turning on lights as bright
as I'd hoped. Anybody have a definition for the IBM i mind personality?

For example, here is a subset of root folders that I don't know how to
logically separate out in my mind:

/bin
/boot
/etc
/initrd
/lib
/opt
/proc
/root
/sbin
/srv
/sys
/usr
/var

Glad to see a list like this, although just as it formed I was slammed
with a couple of projects to get done last week and couldn’t even look at
the posts.

I have played around with Ubuntu a little just to broaden my horizons
loading it on an old laptop and then just recently creating a second
partition on windows PC at home. I find that terminology is the killer for
me, anyone know where to find a cheat sheet on terminology? I’ll look
something up and find out how to do it (ie: like getting my wireless card
working under Ubuntu) only to find that everyone is speaking Greek not Geek
;-) or maybe it’s vise/versa. Hopefully if I can find the time the
terminology will come.

Anyway good to see this list as a resource to draw from if needed.

Cheers,
