x5250 sounds good James and Martin. I tried to build it but ran into issues
on Ubuntu Jaunty and Karmic. Anyone have a simple cheat sheet for building
x5250 on Ubuntu?

Karmic has tn5250 version 0.17.3. I've extracted x5250-0.5.1. I get "Can't
find tn5250" when I execute "./configure".

Thanks, PLA

I use tn5250j for extended use and tn5250 for quick casual use.
I've assigned tn5250 to a keyboard shortcut and created a command called
DROP on the AS/400 that executes "SIGNOFF DROP(*YES)". Really fast
way
to check on something or issue a command and get out.
Too bad tn5250 doesn't do block copy and paste. If it did, I might use it
instead of tn5250j.
Rock on, PLA

x5250 does block copy & paste. I use that 99% of the time. I still use
tn5250 in a console on an old Debian box in the computer room if I
need a session on our System i. A colleague whose just started using
an Ubuntu desktop at work uses tn5250j and likes that.

We have Access for Web running through Tomcat which is handy, but
that's mainly there to let people do password changes through the
browser.
