Hi everyone,

I just released version 0.5.3 of x5250. The release add support for user configurable window sizing and scalable fonts. With these features, it is now possible to start x5250 in full screen mode and have the font fill the screen without having to manually search for a font that fits.

Setting the window size is done using the geometry X resource. This can be done either in ~/.Xdefaults or on the command line. The font is specified similarly. Use xlsfonts to see what fonts you have on your system. Scalable fonts have zeroes in their size specifications.

Example:

x5250 -fn -ibm-courier-bold-r-normal--0-0-0-0-m-0-iso8859-1 -fn132 -ibm-courier-bold-r-normal--0-0-0-0-m-0-iso8859-1 -geometry 1000x650 <hostname>

This will create a 1000 pixel by 650 pixel window with a courier font scaled to fit.

Please report any bugs to this list. Thanks!

James Rich

if you want to understand why that is, there are many good books on
the design of operating systems. please pass them along to redmond
when you're done reading them :)
