apt-get was telling you that you have the latest version of tn5250 that
it is aware of. Version 0.17.4 probably won't make it into the
repositories until Ubuntu 9.04 or maybe even Ubuntu 9.10 - it depends on
when they get around to adding it to the repositories
Carey Evans did the Debian packaging for tn5250 -
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=tn5250 - I'm not sure if
he's still subbed to this list. Ubuntu have it in universe, which is
generally packages pulled straight in from Debian, but I don't know
how soon a new version would take to make the transition.
I use a mix of Debian & Ubuntu systems but I've always built
tn5250/xt5250 (and more recently x5250) from source as that was the
only way to get it when I started using it - nearly 10 years ago!
