OK, I thought I could do it... I got all of my other changes to work just fine, but I can't get the cent sign to come out.

I've put together a tarball that allows me to enter the cent character. I've made Ctrl-c be the cent key ('c' for 'cent'). This may not be the permanent way to do it, but it works. Since you know how to modify the code to map things the way you like I'm sure you can change this to match your preferences. Hopefully soon the key mapping won't require code changes. Grab the tarball from:
