I'm not sure what you mean by asynchronous or synchronous data transfer.
AFAIK, the "data transfer" feature of iSeries Access has no asynchronous
or synchronous option - it just uses whatever the underlying transport is
(like TCP/IP for example).

At any rate, tn5250 does not have a "data transfer" feature the same way
the iSeries Access does.  A typical tool from transferring data to and
from the iSeries is FTP.  Perhaps you could tell us what you're trying to
do and we can help you better?
