Two seconds per screen?!  Are you connected with a 1200 baud modem? :)

I doubt that it's underpowered hardware, I've tried it on a P-166,
and it takes a lot less than 2 seconds per screen :)  (tho, it's not
as fast as I'd like it to be)  on a P2-300, though, the speed is just
fine.
