Err... should be /cvsroot/tn5250 instead of /cvs/tn5250 (Sigh, I should
be more careful)

So try this:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.tn5250.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/tn5250 login
when it asks for a password, just hit enter
(etc)

this same info is posted on http://tn5250.sourceforge.net/

The error you quoted states that make is entering a directory called
/home/mrowe/tn5250/src and then leaving a directory called
/home/mrowe/tn5250.old/src. This strikes me as rather odd...

At any rate, it suggests that the version of ltmain.sh that you have
in that directory does not match the version of ltconfig that you have
in the same directory.

Neither of these files is installed as part of tn5250 when you're
installing from CVS, but rather they are installed from your libtool
package when you do the ./autogen.sh

So, for their versions to conflict suggests that something strange might
be up with libtool on your system? That's where I'd start, anyway.
Perhaps deleting ltconfig & ltmain.sh from the tn5250 build directory
and re-running ./autogen.sh might help?
