In answering my own question. The QR defines a 3 byte model number, not 2.

Subject: Query Reply

I have a problem with this code. In session.c /
tn5250_session_query_reply

As you can see, the two sprintf formats into indexes 30-33 (1, 2, 3, 4)
in
the first sprintf and into index 35-36 (1,2). This leaves index 34 as
junk.
The subsequent for loop translates that junk into its EBCDIC
equvviiellent.

/* format locations 30, 31, 32, 33 using the %04 */
   sprintf ((char*)temp + 30, "%04d", dev_type);

/* format locations +35, 36 using the %02 */

   sprintf ((char*)temp + 35, "%02d", dev_model);

   for (i = 30; i <= 36; i++)
      temp[i] = tn5250_char_map_to_host (
            tn5250_display_char_map (This->display), temp[i]);
