glib has nothing to do with X.  It's just some useful abstract types
and utility functions for C that have been combined in one place for
Gtk and Gnome to use.

If you statically link with glib, you'll get only the functions you're
using.  The tn5250 code itself would probably get slightly smaller.

I think using glib would be a plus where it's appropriate for us.
