Well.... we'll see. (grin)

The planned mods (and this is just speculation still on everyone's part)
would be things like removing the ide header pins.  No HD, then. (without 
serious
work)

But diskless workstations don't need a HD.

It's got a Sandisk flash rom, and someone's already figured out how to
reflash the disk using the QNX OS that's in the default box (they put NetBSD
on it... but Linux is just as easy).

Suffice it to say, I suspect Netpliance will have zero luck in really stopping
mods to the boxes.  You can't keep a good hacker (or 20,000 of them) down.

Even at $199 ($99 is a special), it's a deal.

And the real key is going to be the service contract.  If they tried to
lock you into service for more than a few months...  But right now, it's still
cancelable right away.  Time will tell.
