  • Subject: Building tn5250 from CVS
  • From: "Martin Rowe" <Martin_Rowe@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi

Yet another newbie question I'm afraid...

I've picked up the latest sources from CVS (using a 'cvs checkout tn5250')
and run autoconf to build the configure script. So far so good. When I then
run ./configure I get the following:
[mrowe@DEV1 tn5250]$ ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
./configure: line 540: syntax error near unexpected token `(tn5250,'
./configure: line 540: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE (tn5250, 0.15.8)'

Is this indicative of some environment variable I haven't set, or something
else entirely. ? What other info do people need to suggest a solution?

This is my first time building it this way, as I just used the tarballs,
and latterly Henri's rpms, up to now. I've run across the same problems as
Sean mentioned in the 'tn5250 0.15.7 (CVS version) problems: home key, FER'
thread, and I wanted to try out Jason's fixes.

One other problem I've had with 0.15.7 is that the cursor now returns to
the first input field after every screen refresh. Previously (0.15.6) this
only happened when a status message appeared [1]. For example, taking an
option 6 (to print) against a source member in PDM should leave the cursor
on the option line, but it now returns to the sourcefile field.

Regards, Martin

[1] I get these a lot as I have a message handling program that resends my
user & workstation messages as status messages - too lazy to hit SysRq 4
when the MW flag pops up ;)
