Hi all,

I'm working with a AS400 client and got into a discussion about using Java
web services to communicate programatically with servers on usage, support,
and licensing data. This is an ISV selling product.

I have not looked into this area before so I'd appreciate others insight,
advice, and recommendations as far as industry policies/standards and
expectations.

Here are some specific questions:

1. If specified in the license agreement, is it "OK" to send usage data
back to a server?
2. If specified in the license agreement, is it "OK" to send licensing
data back to a server? For example, detecting usage outside license
agreement and sending that data back.
3. If specified in the license agreement, is it "OK" to send licensing
internal error data to a server? For example, a product bug is discovered
via try / catch, automatically report issue to server.

Thanks!
