subject: Uploading WAR files from a Mac

My colleague recently dumped WinDoze entirely, in favor of a MacBook, and it's working out quite well, with one exception:

It seems that he has yet to successfully upload WAR files to our V6 box.
His Mac creates them just fine, but he has to have somebody else upload them, because somehow, every FTP client he's tried on the Mac has somehow mangled them.

I've encouraged him to try FETCH, but he's been reluctant to use anything that would cost him anything.

Anybody have any experience uploading WAR files from a Mac?
