Yeah, I'm not familiar with the JCL DD ;-) Sounds interesting though.

The ToolBox has some great API's for dealing with spooled files. You can, if
you haven't yet, check out JTOpen. Here is a link to the ToolBox

Also, Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen wrote a couple of classes to wrap system
spooled files I found very helpful. (Usually the data is just truncated for
