Hi,

Not a pure Java question, but anyhow related enough I hope... when trying to install WAS Express 6.1 on a V5R3 system, the install always returns a failed status and shows the following in the log.txt;

(Jan 16, 2009 11:58:01 AM), Process, com.ibm.ws.install.ni.ismp.actions.InstallNIFPackage, err, com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.NIFException: CWUPI0013E: A configuration action failed. The failing configuration action is: 81Sos400crtprf.ijc.
at com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.install.NIFPackageApplicationPlugin.runInstallConfigActions(NIFPackageApplicationPlugin.java:805)
at com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.install.NIFPackageApplicationPlugin.execute(NIFPackageApplicationPlugin.java:125)
at com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.satellites.DeploySatellitesPlugin.configureSatellites(DeploySatellitesPlugin.java:255)
at com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.satellites.DeploySatellitesPlugin.execute(DeploySatellitesPlugin.java:167)
at com.ibm.ws.install.ni.ismp.actions.InstallNIFPackage.execute(InstallNIFPackage.java:107)
at com.installshield.wizard.RunnableWizardBeanContext.run(RunnableWizardBeanContext.java:20)
Caused by: com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.config.ConfigFailedException: CWUPI0013E: A configuration action failed. The failing configuration action is: 81Sos400crtprf.ijc.

at com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.config.NIFConfigPlugin.executeConfiguration(NIFConfigPlugin.java:110)
at com.ibm.ws.install.ni.framework.install.NIFPackageApplicationPlugin.runInstallConfigActions(NIFPackageApplicationPlugin.java:760)
... 5 more

Otherwise, the install seems to be fine (licensed programs, QWAS61/QWAS61a and IFS structure), apart from the fact that /QIBM/WAS/bin/queryWASinstalls reports that no Websphere servers could be found. Loading the latest Websphere group PTF goes fine, however applying also fails since so product is found.

The system is a scratch install with all the latest PTF's/groups installed. I also tried installing Websphere Express 6.1.0.0, Websphere Express 6.1.0.11 and Websphere ND 6.1.0.21 all with the same issue.

JDK 1.3 is not installed on the system, only 1.4 and 1.5 (which is set to the system default).

Kind regards,
Paul
