To the list:

Not sure how to ask my question so let me start by explaining what I'm
trying to do.

We have a browser-based application which runs on a Java Application Server
accessing data from an iSeries database.

On several of the browser pages we need to print to an iSeries printer which
is tied to the specific workstation (PC) being used for "this" session.

There is a file on the iSeries which relates printers to workstations. The
workstation ID is specifically the first 8 positions of the PC's computer
name.

I'm looking for a way to read the workstation's computer name during the
user's application log on to avoid asking the user to pick a specific
iSeries printer every time they say print. I realize the log on screen is
being pushed to the PC's screen from the application server and that this
may make accessing the PC's computer name impossible.

One other thing: we do know and can capture the browser session's ip
address.

Anyone know a way to access the PC's computer name?
