I started using Java on the AS/400 in early 1997, first using the IBM
Hursley Lab Java environment. It was NOT part of the OS. I had to
download a SAVF and install it as an application. The sys admins were
somewhat skeptical about the whole thing when I asked for their help
unpacking the SAVF.

Anyone else remember using the Hursley JVM?

Hi

I am writing a spec for some work that is using Java, and I just wondered
how long has Java actually been available on the i?

I think its about 2000, possibly earlier V4R2 time? Does that sound right?

Thanks

Neill
