That is what started this thread. There are NO entitlements to go from WDSC to RDi unless you purchased WDSC through Passport Advantage and most people did not do that, they got it as part of ADTS package. So if you're like my shop and started moving off SEU/SDA to WDSC your at a dead end with WDSC and have to buy new licenses to the new RDi product. You get entitlements to the SEU/SDA products when you move from V5R4 to V6R1 but not to RDi

I think the pricing mentioned in this thread is not taking into account
those on software subscription - when you upgrade to V6R1
there are entitlements for the WDSC you had at V5R4
(see your BP for details).

I just read your article, Joe. IBM has basically just pushed me back
down to ADTS/OPM. I just don't see how my shop will be able to justify
the added costs of RDi.

Thanks for the article, though. Very helpful.

Sorry for the size, this is what I got from my IBM business partner...
We are on a 520- P20 level.

I'm not going to do all the what-ifs. Please, please read the article I
posted. I spent a lot of time on it.

But here's a little look at a P20:

5722WDS is $22,900. A single seat for ILE compilers and ADTS (PDM/SEU)
is $2600. So if you have, say, eight developers, your price for a brand
new machine would be $20,800, or actually a little less. If you are
currently on maintenance, a P20 license entitles you to 12 seats
(although I think they may have upped that number). However, that comes
out to about $31,000, so your SWMA will go up (from 20% of $22900 to 20%
of $31000, or from $4600 to $6200).

Now that's for ADTS. If you want to move your ADTS entitlements to RDi,
IBM has said there will be a transfer capability. It won't cost you the
full $795, nor will it be free. It will be somewhere in between. Of
course, if you're a new client, you have a choice: ADTS or RDi.

It's not simple. It is best if you read my article, sit down and do the
math for your particular situation.
