Kara,

The comment on WRKRDBDIRE raised a question. If you are accessing the
local AS400, I would have expected to see something like:

Remote
Entry Location
DatabaseName *LOCAL

Where DatabaseName is the database you are accessing. However, I am not
prepared to say that what you describe is wrong. It can be tested
though:
Suggest using "C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Shared\cwbundbs.exe"
(part of iSeries Navigator) to run a simple select SQL statement against
the server and database name that you use in the application. If it
cannot connect to the database, then I suspect that would be your
culprit. If it connects and returns a result set using the username and
password you use in your application, then that closes off a number of
possibilities...

Not being able to create the connection suggests to me that it cannot
"see" the database ...

Regards
John

subject: Re:DB Connection Issue after upgrade from v5r2 to v5r3

- Host servers are started
- WRKRDBDIRE shows the remote db connection with the external IP address
and the hostname I was originally using.
- PTFs were loaded at upgrade time then reloaded again to make sure.
- 5722JC1 *COMPATIBLE Toolbox for Java is loaded.
- Version under v5r2 was 1.3 and is the same on v5r3
- I don't think the error is from CCSID not being 37 as we are not
receiving the error the memo states we would get.
- The connection is the last part of the code, all the code is working
correctly until it tries to create the connection.
-Username and Password are ok.

Thanks
Kara
