Kelly, some first bits:

A. You should only need jt400Native.jar in your classpath.  Back in the bad
old days, we had jt400.jar and jt400ntv.jar, where the latter contained the
"native optimizations".  Today, as Kristen noted, jt400.jar is for running
Java applications that access an iSeries over a network.

B. If this keeps up, we're probably going to have to dump your classpath.
However, there are one or two things to try.  First, check the authorities
on the jar files and the folders they are in.  Sometimes you run into
authority issues.  Second, you might want to try using QShell to get your
feet wet.  With QShell you can run a standard java command which will allow
you to set the classpath as well as use the "-verbose" switch, which can
often shed light on the situation.
