I'd agree if I wasn't using java and jt400. My question was specific to that
environment.

I would like to programmatically process through as list of the queues, get
the network printer information from Active Directory, mangle the name to
the correct OS/400 standard, create the new device, update all workstations
that pointed to the old output queue to point to the new device description
and last update all user profiles that pointed to the old output queues to
the new device description. I want to schedule it to run on my PC during off
hours so eveything is moved over by the next day.

I like your tools. I just have to go through hoops to be able to install
anything on our AS/400 that didn't come from a vendor we can hang over the
fire if it doesn't work or causes problems.

Coy, This question best belongs on the Midrange-L list,

But having said that I wrote a command and programs WRKRMTWTR to solve this
very issue.

Have a look @ http://home.columbus.rr.com/jbmmdietz/iseries.html

subject: Retrieving IP Address from Output Queue

We've got about 100 output queue's that were created back in the day and do
not have real devices attached to them. I need to get the IP addresses from
all of these queue's so we can go back and recreate them as actual devices.
I also have to rename them to fit our current naming conventions.

So, I thought I would use OutputQueue to get the IP address via
getStringAttribute(ATTR_INTERNETADDR). I did notice that it's not listed as
one of the attributes available for OutputQueue, but then again the
attribute does exist and is not listed as retrievable for ANY of the
PrintObject subclasses. The following is the exception I'm getting and would
lead one to think I needed to update my host servers, but I've got the
latest cumulative package installed as well as group ptfs.

com.ibm.as400.access.RequestNotSupportedException: V5R3M0: Correct server
level is required.

Has anyone worked with the OutputQueue class or another class and been to
retrieve the IP address?
