I realize that there aren't really any other JVM providers for the iSeries,
I was just trying to make a "mis-informed" point. :)

I didn't get the gist of Joe's comments until I re-read his message.  I
understand now what point he's making.

    JVMs are systen dependent, i.e. native code, at least for startup,
memory management and so on.  That's why Sun, for example, has different
downloads for Windows, Solaris and Linux.  A standard Sun JVM is not
going to run under OS/400 and PPC architecture.
