I didn't do the lesson, why does he recommend against it? We use DynaActionForms all the time. You only need to code your own ActionForm in unusual cases.

No.

Also, I tried to use easystruts eclipse plugin and I was kind of lose. Should I keep trying this product? I found manually coding to be not that difficult.

Code by hand, you'll learn more. It's not that hard anyway, most folks don't feel the need for a GUI for Struts.
