DB2 on the iSeries doesn't follow the version number of the rest of the DB2
family, it uses the OS version number.                  

This is because DB2 on the iSeries is an integral part of the OS.  It is not
and could not be a separate product.  Basically, OS/400 is built around and
on top of an integral RDMS.  Originally, the RDBMS didn't have a name.
Within the past few years, IBM has given it the DB2 name and worked toward
having similar capabilities between DB2 UDB iSeries and the DB2 UDB product
for other platforms.
