Some more details about NAWT:
As David Morris pointed out, you can use Native AWT (NAWT) on the iSeries
to run AWT code.  However, NAWT doesn't officially support interactive
(GUI) AWT usage until JDK1.4 in V5R2.  In V5R1, NAWT supports only "image
generation" applications/servlets/etc.  Also, the "java.awt.headless=true"
property setting, which greatly simplifies the installation/setup
requirements for code that doesn't use interactive AWT APIs, is not
supported until V5R2 JDK1.4.
