Had to go play soccer earlier, had not much time to give more info.

Therefore I'll give it now:


iText can be found at http://www.lowagie.com/iText/

It is used to create/manage PDF_files.

1) 
We created a little java_tool which 
- has some methods to create/manage the PDF's using iText_classes
- has some methods called with parameters to write data

2)
next we use good-old RPG which
- reads the database
- call's our java_tool to create the file/write data

3) 
- PDF's are in AS400_ifs from where it can be picked up 
by any program to process...
