The Java calling RPG code is working now. The RPG program was on
the same AS/400 as the Java program but the data files weren't. I moved the
RPG program to the other AS/400, supplied the AS400 object with the address,
a user profile and a password. Once I killed all of the RPG bugs, the
servlet started to run smoothly.

My guess is you need additional classes in your classpath.

If on v5r1 or later use Toolbox classes from
   /qibm/proddata/os400/jt400/lib/jt400Native.jar

If on v4r5 or ealier use jt400.jar plus
   /qibm/proddata/java400/jt400ntv.jar
