Thanks!

We don't run an internal DNS. But it think it's best to 'register' our
'public'-ipaddress so it can be called by name. (Now we have links
using ip-address only.)
Then we can
(1) install DNS server
(2) add 'hosts'-entry on PC's

I take a closer look at request.getRemoteAddr( ) or
request.getRemoteHost( ) too for webapp-usage in servlets. I looked
into it a while ago and it didn't work the way I wanted, I sure give it
another try.

DNS should take care of what you want to do. Are you running internal
DNS ?

DNS resolves names(URL) to IP address. So internally your url such as
www.myurl.com would resolve to 10.0.0.1 while externally www.myurl.com
would resolve to your public IP address.

I have a link to a webpage which works when accessed from the Internet
but doesn't when accessed from our Intranet. Problem seems to be the
URL which needs to be linked to the correct IP-adress. From the
Intranet we need to link it to 10.0.0.1 whereas when used from the
Internet it is another number.

I know we can put a list to choose from but then it's a bit confusing
for our users which doesn't care what the difference between internet
and extranet is...

Is there some way to trace if page is accessed from the internet of from
the Intranet when specific link is clicked ?
