Yeah, that's what I immediately checked. What really baffles me is that
everything works and that 'default' domain exists under /QIBM/WebASAdv/.
However, admin properties in the default domain contain
install.initial.config=false attribute. I'm new to the 3.5.4 version, so I
have no idea how this is relevant, but, as I said, Default Server is not
visible from the Admin Console. I have created my own application server -
seems to be working fine, so the fact that I'm missing Default cfg is not
particularly improtant, unless it's an indicator of a more serious problem.

Are you sure that Websphere Server has been started and the console has
been installed in a NT or Windows2000 SO with its required fixes like the
Server. Remember that the Websphere Server and the console must have the
same release, check if your  console is in release 3.5.4
