While I am far from being a Java expert I wish to reply anyway.

Insert and Delete does not work for FIELDS.  One doesn't insert or delete a 
field into a record (or column into a table).  One inserts or deletes the 
entire record.  Thus field level authority would not be appropriate at the 
insert or delete time.  Only when updating or accessing an existing record.  I 
think that is why IBM (in their infinite wisdom) set it up the way they did.
