  • Subject: Re: Problem when running Visual Age - using WTE?

Hi Azeem.

With all the frameworks I load in VisualAge concurrently and the WebSphere
Test Environment, I wouldn't want to use less than256 mb of memory on NT.
IBM requires 128 mb I believe so you are within their minimum guidelines.

IF it were a memory problem on NT just look at the IDE.EXE process and see
how much memory it consumes in your environment.

A better idea on resolving the runtime error in your workspace - just get a
copy of an IDE.ICX file from another developer in your shop that ISN'T
failing. IF you have the same applications loaded in your repository as
that individual does, when you start VisualAge with his image it should
work fine. You can then load or reload anything.

Just be aware of the caching problem for classes and how to clear that I
went thru in my last email. When something breaks, you either have to
clear the cache to resolve it or reload the affected applications ( delete
from image, clear cache, save image and restart, then reload to get clean
memory copy of the affected classes )....

Hi Jim!
thanks for some ideas to fix my problem. i have actually uninstalled and
installed Visual Age many times around 15 - 20 times. but still i get this
problem. i tried to capture the CPU Usage from the NT taskmanager, the
attachment of which i'm sending. see if you can arrive at some factors. my
colleagues don't have this when they run the same set of code and they make
lot more changes than what i'm doing. could this be b'cos of some memory
leak. if so is there any tool to find the memory leaks when running the
code under Visual Age - websphere test environment. our application code is
extensive.

Is there any minimum system requirement for running extensive code under
web sphere test environment, and if so what is it. plz someone help me out
on this.

The only difference between my colleagues PC and my PC is the processor
speed, their's is PII800 and mine is PIII450.

Thanks in advance.

Have a great day!

Azeem.
