Shawn's issue is one that I forgot about and another downside. If I want to
work on VB Code at home, I just connect to my work pc through a POTS line,
open the project off of my work pc and I'm golden. With the repository type
construct, I'd have to export the project on which I am working, and then
when I'm done, I'd have to Import it again the next day. Leaves allot of
room for corruption.

And another issue are the system requirements. Although the company for
which I work tries to give me the best equipment and tools available, I
cannot buy a new computer every time a major processor upgrade is released.
I'm currently using a PII 400 w/ 128 mb of memory. Apparently this is not
near enough. I, like many others in iSeries application development, wear
more than one hat. I support RPG code, am a backup operator, take care of
our NT Lan/Wan and am the EDI coordinator. If what I'm hearing is correct,
I'd need a PIII with at least 512 mb of ram just for VAJAVA, and another
computer for 5250, CODE/400, EDI Software.......

As for using VAJAVA with my laptop, It is a p133 with 48 mb of ram. It
ain't happening!!!

I'm looking for a simple IDE that will generate the Java code for the UI
and let me fill in the other stuff. I've never seen Visual J++. I don't
even know if it's available any more with .NET and C# well under way. All I
know is I've been working on a learning project. A simple maintenance
program over one file. The UI code is 75% of the whole project. It's tough.

Have a great day,

Mark
