  • Subject: AS400 Java tool kit- How to Get JOBD and others from Java command call
  • From: "Annalur, Pavan" <Pavan.Annalur@xxxxxxx>

We are using AS/400 tool kit in our project from past one year, we are very
successful in implementing three Projects using record access services ,
Program call services etc. Even though we had few response time issues ,
however we are OK.

In the past experience , we could not resolve two issues, we need help on
these issues.
Issue (A) :
* We need to retrieve Job description (AS/400 JOB using WRKJOBD)
information to get user profile based library list,
* We can get JOBDescription " name only " using Commandcall classes,
however we can't get library list information.
        Issue (B) :

* When we run program call, we can get output data from java, no
issues. However when we run command call, the o/p messages are not returned
to java call ( even in the AS400Message List, For example, we execute
command DSPLIBL from Java commandcall object, we do not get any return
statements. How can we get the library lists.?

                Sample code for (B)

AS400 as400 = new AS400(oursystem);

          CommandCall command = new CommandCall( as400 );

          try
          {
                 if (command.run("DSPLIBL"))
                        { System.out.print( "Command successful" );

                        AS400Message[] messagelist =
command.getMessageList();
                        for (int i = 0; i < messagelist.length; i++) {
                                System.out.println(" AS/400 Messages for
User "

+messagelist[i].toString());

                        }
                        }
                 else
                         System.out.print( "Command failed" );

                We do not get any messages to indicate the library list ?
