Possibly another answer:

So now that I've at least got V2 installed I'm working through the Getting
Started with WebSphere Application Server for AS/400 document. I have the
helloworld app working and the three non-database samples working. To run
the database examples, I'm supposed to create the tables with the following
command (p.18), where I have replaced jt400_root with
"qibm/proddata/HTTP/Public/jt400/lib". I can see the jt400.jar file there
in ops navigator. But when I run

cd '/qibm/proddata/ibmwebas/samples'

 ===> runjva CLASS(ConfigWAS202) PARM(all qtmhhttp)
CLASSPATH('qibm/proddata/ibm
webas/samples:qibm/proddata/HTTP/Public/jt400/lib/jt400.jar')

Answer: Specify a preceding forward slash (/) on your CLASSPATH entries.
I.e.
CLASSPATH('/qibm/proddata/ibmwebas/samples:/qibm/proddata/http/public/jt400/lib/jt400.jar')

Subject: Websphere samples configuration

SIGN ON FACULTY DOOR:

First question: 1 dollar
Second question: 50 cents
Stupid questions: Free

I'm expecting ALL the answers to my questions to be free. :)

--------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I'm trying to get started with Websphere. First, I mistakenly installed
the
V3 group ptf SF99132 a week ago, thinking I would start my learning with
the
latest and greatest. (I also installed the latest cum for V4R4 first.)
Unfortunately, SF99132 apparently needed V2 installed first--although for
the life of me I can't find where I read that--because the V3 product did
not install. Last night I installed SF99027 from a March order that I
never
applied. When I run dspdtaara qappsvr/sf99027 I now get 'Group PTF#:
SF99027-04 V4R4M0 12/01/1999'. I realize this isn't the latest version
because I didn't reorder the V2 ptf when I ordered a fresh cum and the V3
ptf. ALL THAT SAID:

Question 1. If I now reinstall SF99132 will I have V3 installed? Perhaps
more important, as a novice, should I be working with V2 or V3?

So now that I've at least got V2 installed I'm working through the Getting
Started with WebSphere Application Server for AS/400 document. I have the
helloworld app working and the three non-database samples working. To run
the database examples, I'm supposed to create the tables with the following
command (p.18), where I have replaced jt400_root with
"qibm/proddata/HTTP/Public/jt400/lib". I can see the jt400.jar file there
in ops navigator. But when I run

cd '/qibm/proddata/ibmwebas/samples'

 ===> runjva CLASS(ConfigWAS202) PARM(all qtmhhttp)
CLASSPATH('qibm/proddata/ibm
webas/samples:qibm/proddata/HTTP/Public/jt400/lib/jt400.jar')

I get:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: ConfigWAS202
Java program completed with exit code 1

HUM, last night I got a different error which I stupidly didn't write down
because I repeated it over and over and figured I'd get it again. That one
complained about not finding something to do with com.ibm.access.

SO, Question 2: What am I doing wrong? The ConfigWAS202.class file does
exist in the samples directory--now that I've installed SF99027.

I also have VAJAVA Enterprise. My goal is to convert a green screen
timesheet entry program written using Progen in RPG. The Progen program
makes extensive use of called programs to make all the actual data changes.
These called programs have business logic built in to them (can't change if
already submitted, etc). I would like to create a web accessible interface
that takes data from the user and uses servlets to call these same programs
to make data changes. I'm hoping I'll be able to let my servlets adopt
their owner's authority to gain access to the HR files.

Question 3: Can servlets adopt authority? Does anyone happen to know of a
sample timesheet/time off program sitting out there I could clone? Is
anyone successfully using VAJAVA Enterprise 3.0 with Websphere 2 or 3? Does
one version of Websphere work better than the other with VAJava 3?

All help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ravi Nielsen
