Jon, I converted two programs and then stopped for the reasons I stated. I
used the conversion tool for DDS screens and nothing fit. Everything was
jammed, nothing was useful. Of course they could be resized, moved, and
have attributes changed but why bother? At that point it is no longer a
simple conversion process. I never was able to import a green screen
RPG program and have that actually produce a program that would actually
compile and run, untouched by human hands so I was wrong in saying I had
done all of the steps. I had a lot of work to make the converted RPG
programs work, it was not trivial.

The original question was about taking green screen applications and going
through the conversion processes until there was installable and operable
Java client/server applications. I believe my point was, and still is,
that no one is lying when they say it can be done, but my feeling remains
that such a plan is doomed to embarrassing failure.

event-driven.

Booth - you've got me real confused with this statement. First - there is
no
cycle in VARPG. You can _only_ write event-driven code. Second - as to
the
screens being crowded, the imported screen are fully editable so if they
are
crowded it's 'cos you choose to have them that way.
